Serin Oh, a native of Seoul, South Korea, would describe her music as focusing on the characteristics of each instrument by concentrating on the potential and distinguished sound colors. She also broadens her music from such influences as literature, painting, nature and scientific phenomenon.
Serin is also an active pianist and accompanist performing at many concerts, including performing new music. At ESM, she served as a pianist at the new music ensemble OSSIA, including premiere performances. She also served as a staff pianist at CCM.
She got invited and participated in festivals and conferences, including SPLICE Institute & Festival, Oregon Bach Festival Composers Symposium, St. Petersburg International New Music Festival, USF Composition in Asia, Dot the Line New Music Festival, The keyboard in the 21st Century Conference, UNK New Music Festival, Cincinnati Song Initiative, Music by Women Festival, CMS Northwest Regional Conference, CMS Northeast Regional Conference, Seoul International Computer Music Festival, Daegu International Computer Music Festival, and International Computer Music Conference.
Serin Oh is a Third Prize recipient of the 3rd International New Vision Composition Competition 2020 of The 22nd International Chopin and Friends Festival from New York Dance & Arts Innovations Inc.
In April 2021, Serin Oh completed her D.M.A in Composition degree with cognate in Computer Music at the The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (Cincinnati, OH), having studied with Michael Fiday, Douglas Knehans, and Mara Helmuth. She holds her M.M. in Composition degree with applied music in Piano at the Eastman School of Music (Rochester, NY), having studied composition with David Liptak, Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon and Robert Morris, and piano with Tony Caramia and Elinor Freer. She holds her B.M. and M.M. in Composition degree at the Ewha Womans University (Seoul, South Korea), having studied with Michael Sidney Timpson and Eun Hye Park.
Serin Oh is a Research Fellow of Veritas Musicae, and is a member of New Music Society, and The Korean Society of Women Composers.
